Phew, that was a busy one!

Fantastic meet yesterday - was lovely to see a few new faces and hopefully they will become regulars. The Widemarsh Centre are wonderful and have been doing some promotion for us so with any luck every meet will be as busy. I even remembered to take a camera so here are a few photos.....

We love the new venue!

We had the first meet at the Widemarsh Centre last week. It's such a wonderful room and the toys for mobile babies and young children are great. Lovely to see a few new faces. Looks like we're even getting some free promotion in a local community newspaper! Yet again I forgot my camera - must remember it next month so we can get some pics up.

The Leominster meet is next Thursday (27th) but I won't be there as I'm off on my hollybobs. There will be some slingers and a few slings though for anyone who can't wait til the next meet.

Hereford Sling Meet is moving!

After 2 years at the Green Croft Centre, Hereford Sling Meet is moving across the river to the newly refurbished Widemarsh Children's Centre. We have been given the opportunity to use a wonderful room with lots of toys and activities to keep children amused as well as a secure outdoor area for the nice weather. The added bonus of having both a kitchen area and baby changing facilities adjoining the room make this perfect. The Widemarsh Centre has its own cafe so people can stay and have lunch or a cuppa after the meet.

I'm very excited about our new venue and hope to see lots of new mums and dads. Do come along and see our new home!

Leominster meets

Since I last blogged (I know, I surely must win the worst blogger of the year award) I have now got a monthly Sling Meet in Leominster up and running. So far it is going quite well. We've had a few quiet months but the meet today was quite busy so I'm hopeful that it will get more popular. The Hereford meets have been doing well recently too, it seems the article in the NCT magazine has brought some new people our way which is wonderful. Still working on a few ideas for promotion and publicity (and would welcome any suggestions) and keeping fingers crossed that the quiet (okay dead) months become a rarity.

Next Hereford meet on 8th March and will try to remember my camera to take some photos.

Kickstart for the summer!

I've been a very bad blogger and must try harder! The Sling Meets have been quite quiet recently due mostly to a massive lack of promotion or advertising. We've had a few new people come along mainly through word of mouth which is wonderful but I feel it needs a bit of a kickstart. I'm on a promotion

We hope to have some outdoor meets in the summer either as well as or instead of an indoor meet and, if there is sufficient interest, a family picnic one weekend in July/August so that the dads can come too. Any other ideas for 'slingers day out' please let us know!

Our First Meet...

....went rather well I thought! Lots of older children with it being half term but they entertained themselves rather nicely! Battery on my camera was dead this morning so no photos but will hopefully get some next month.

What is a Sling Meet?

The aim of Sling Meets is to promote, practice and teach about the art of babywearing - quite simply using a cloth baby sling or carrier to carry your baby or child. You can find lots of reasons for and benefits of babywearing in the 'Articles and Resources' section.

The meetings will be a relatively informal with a mix of teaching and chat and will hopefully evolve over time to meet everyone's needs. There will be experienced babywearers on hand to give demonstrations how to use a particular sling/carrier as well as share their own experiences and troubleshoot any problems people might have with their sling.

Welcome to Hereford Sling Meet!

Well here we are! Finally we have a venue and a time so let the monthly meetings begin! Our venue is the Parenting Room in the Green Croft Centre, Redhill (next to Marlbrook Primary School). Meetings will be (at least for the next few months) on the 2nd Monday of each month 10am-12pm. Our first proper meeting will be 11th February. Check out the Herefordshire forum of Sling Meet for more information - come and introduce yourself before you come along.

Everyone is welcome. If you have never used a sling, have a sling that you are having problems with, would like to try a particular type of sling, want help with a specific carrying position, are an experienced sling user and want to help others or just want to learn about babywearing and have a cuppa and chat....we would love to see you!
