No more Leominster Sling Meets
From this month onwards the Leominster Sling Meets are cancelled. Numbers attending have been low and with other commitments it seems best to cancel them altogether. The Hereford meets will carry on as usual on the 2nd Thursday of every month at the Widemarsh Children's Centre. If you attend a toddler group or ante/post natal group in the Leominster area where there is an interest in slings please do contact me as I'd be happy to bring some slings along.
Travelled 40 mins today to attend nearest sling meet (leominster) and obviously no one there! Wasn't very please :/
ReplyDeleteSuffer with Social anxiety disorder and cant go out the house. Made a huge effort to go to this one - and no one there! childrens center had no idea why wasn't on and couldn't give me any onfo apart from to check this site. Where i now see its cancelled! Maybe a good idea to update the childrens center? Would have been first Sling meet as no one babywears in my area and was so looking forward to it. Childrens center said they were told meets were cancelled from April on-wards. (was this cancellation notice only posted on the 19th expecting to finish on the 24th?)

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that you had a wasted journey, I appreciate how frustrating that must have been.
May I ask how you heard about the meets? The Centre were notified - the meets were cancelled with the centre prior to the date of the March meet and once that was done it was announced on the blog, the Facebook page and the Sling Meet website. I run the meets on my own on a voluntary basis so meets can be cancelled at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness etc so it is always a good idea to check on the day that it is still going ahead.
May I ask where you live? If it is possible for you to get to Hereford there are meets on the 2nd Thursday of every month (next one April 14th) and on the Sling Meet website there are details of meets in several of the neighbouring counties. Perhaps one of those would be close enough for you? Feel free to email me on herefordslingmeet@hotmail.co.uk.
Again I'm very sorry. I know what it's like to be the only babywearer in the area, I hope you can meet up with some other people soon and if you can get to Hereford we would love to see you.
