No more Leominster Sling Meets
From this month onwards the Leominster Sling Meets are cancelled. Numbers attending have been low and with other commitments it seems best to cancel them altogether. The Hereford meets will carry on as usual on the 2nd Thursday of every month at the Widemarsh Children's Centre. If you attend a toddler group or ante/post natal group in the Leominster area where there is an interest in slings please do contact me as I'd be happy to bring some slings along.

Wow, that was a busy one!
Apologies (again) for the lack of bloggage, I've been a bit slack recently. The Hereford meets are going from strength to strength and the meet this morning was a cracker, the busiest we've had yet I think so thank you to everyone who came. Lovely to see so many new faces and a personal thank you to the regulars, your support is greatly appreciated.

Twitter and Reminders
We are now on Twitter so if you use it, follow us @HfdSlingMeet for reminders, news and anything else that's relevant (or not!).
Next Hereford meet is this Thursday (9th) at Widemarsh - for more details see the Meetings and Events page. If you are planning on coming please do turn up as close to the start (10am) as you can as they have been really busy recently and it is difficult to fit everyone in if people arrive throughout the two hours.
There will be a Sling Walk on Sunday (12th) although the location is yet to be decided. It needs to be finalised by Thursday so we can tell any new parents at the meet. If you have a suggestion join the Google Group.

Our first sling walk...
...was fab! A great turn-out and the weather was perfect. Thank you to everyone who came along, it was a huge success. I would like to start doing a weekend walk regularly, perhaps monthly on the weekend following the Widemarsh meet. With some brainstorming I'm sure there are lots of other places we can go for a walk in this beautiful county of ours. If you know of a walk that is suitable - nothing too steep and safe for roaming small people - do let me know.

August fights back!
I tend to feel slightly despondent going to an August Sling Meet because in past years they have always been very quiet. I've put it down to people being away on summer holidays and also because they may have older children off school and worry they will be bored. With this being our first August meet at Widemarsh I wasn't sure what the turn out would be like.....well I needn't have worried! A combination of some great word of mouth promotion plus there being information about Sling Meet available to anyone who visits the Widemarsh Centre meant we had a really busy meet.

HSM in Community News
Heard something come partway through the letterbox late-ish last night and on first glance it looked like one of the free newspapers that is delivered weekly. Our letterbox has a vicious streak and is prone to trapping fingers and also making a loud noise. Not wanting to wake sleeping children I left it there. The two year old very helpfully fetched it this morning and it was the free Community News paper that I've been waiting for

Time to breathe....
....and coffee!
Quieter meet today which meant it wasn't quite so frantic and everyone got a cuppa so that's got to be a result! Few gorgeous little babies to drool over and success with some slings. A few pics...

Proof....
...that developmentally, it is far better for a baby to be carried in a good sling or carrier than spend hours lying on their back. Wonderful article.

Phew, that was a busy one!
Fantastic meet yesterday - was lovely to see a few new faces and hopefully they will become regulars. The Widemarsh Centre are wonderful and have been doing some promotion for us so with any luck every meet will be as busy. I even remembered to take a camera so here are a few photos.....

We love the new venue!
We had the first meet at the Widemarsh Centre last week. It's such a wonderful room and the toys for mobile babies and young children are great. Lovely to see a few new faces. Looks like we're even getting some free promotion in a local community newspaper! Yet again I forgot my camera - must remember it next month so we can get some pics up.
The Leominster meet is next Thursday (27th) but I won't be there as I'm off on my hollybobs. There will be some slingers and a few slings though for anyone who can't wait til the next meet.
